The Sirius Chair

SIRIUS is a corporate chair, based on an original public-private partnership between three major operators in the global space sector (CNES, Airbus Defense and Space and Thales Alenia Space) and two renowned higher education institutions: Toulouse Capitole University and Toulouse Business School.

The SIRIUS Chair brings together around its scientific managers and under their direction, researchers (doctoral students, post-doctoral students) or experts of international reputation. It is widely open to all other French or European research teams.

It produces reference works which is published in the best international scientific journals (peer-reviewed journals). It carries out on demand studies for the French space industry and contributes to the training and information of the key players concerned, within the framework of either seminars or specialized workshops.

The SIRIUS team is more particularly focused on the legal, social, economic and managerial challenges of space activities and more particularly, those raised by the generalization of satellite uses and the multiplication of space applications.

These challenges are part of a rapidly changing context, notably marked by the opening to competition of the space sector, the privatization and internationalization of the space industries, the progress made in both transmission and reception techniques, the emergence new digital platforms using hybrid networks and the proliferation of services and applications linked to the widespread use of satellite.

SIRIUS serves the industries of the European space sector, European space policies and the space powers that Europe brings together.
